During our interview, JET mentioned Ken Groves had recently bought one of her puppets – Joe Mugga. This happened when I was running late for my interview with JET due to tech issues in the conVENTion showroom.  Ken offered to let her know I’d be there ASAP. When he saw Joe on her table, he picked him up and began to play. Ken had a character in mind and Joe turned out to be the perfect puppet for his vision. The personality instantly came through and the material started to flow.

That is the magic of knowing your character BEFORE buying a puppet. So many people fall in love with the way a puppet looks only to find out they have nothing when they try to use it. The real talent is in developing the personality first. Once you have the character the puppet will easily follow.
